MeitY has a number of funding schemes to promote R&D and innovation in electronics industry as summarized below
| R & D in Electronics | Sustained R&D essential for the development of indigenous technology, its transfer to industry for commercialization, and to increase the Intellectual Property content of product design and development. |
| R & D in Information Technology | GoI views R&D as essential for implementation of new initiatives such as Digital India, Make in India and Startup India and has launched new schemes in R&D such as IMPRINT, etc. |
| R&D in CC&BT | Convergence, Communications & Broadband technologies (CC&BT) are the key technologies for the growth and development. R&D in cutting edge technologies ensure that citizens can take full advantage of increasingly pervasive digital services across the plethora of existing and emerging use cases and verticals. |
| Emerging Areas of Technology | GoI endeavors to promote emerging areas of technology to induce progressive developments and competitive advantage across board. |
| R&D in Cyber Security | Cyber Security R&D is one of major initiatives identified for securing Cyber space with focus on promotion of R&D, demonstration, proof of concept and establishment of test beds for enhancing indigenous skills and capabilities in the cyber security. |
