5G, also called IMT-2020, is the next generation of cellular communications technology with evolutionary and revolutionary services that can have a deep impact on India. Three usage scenarios, including enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (URLLC), and massive machine type communications (mMTC) have multiple economic applications to advance the reach and utility of ‘Digital India’ and allied missions.
5G technologies have entered into public networks beginning in 2019 and are expected to advance to a full range of services by 2024.
